The temperature on Easter Sunday warmed to 60 degrees across most of the New York City metro area. A cold front dropped down late at night and temperatures cooled into the 30s. Snow developed overnight and it fell heavily at times before ending by noon. Central Park experienced its greatest April snowfall since 2003. Central Park reported that 5.5 inches of snow fell today. The snow accumulate on roadways and sidewalks especially in the northern and western suburbs. The streets in the city were mainly wet. Snowfall totals today included 7.5 inches in New Canaan, CT, 6.6 inches in Sayville, NY, 5.8 inches in Little Neck, NY, 4.0 inches in Woodbridge, NJ, 3.7 inches at JFK Airport and 2.6 inches in Edison, NJ. A similar pattern is setting up for Saturday night and Sunday morning later this week with a chance of rain and/or wet snow.
