Historic Snowstorm for the Gulf Coast Today and Wednesday...

For the first time, a Blizzard Warning has been issued for parts of the Gulf Coast.  The warning extends from near Port Arthur, TX to Lafayette, LA.  Snow, sleet and freezing rain combined with winds gusting to 40 mph will create near whiteout conditions and very dangerous traveling conditions.  The storm shifts east tonight with 2 to 4 inches of snow forecast for Pensacola, FL with 2" expected in Tallahassee, FL. Currently it's snowing and 30 degrees in New Orleans, gusts to 43 mph, expecting 4 to 8 inches. This storm will slide off the coast later this week staying well south of NYC.  Temperatures will not rise above freezing in the city until Sunday.  Not much snow but a cold winter so far in the NYC metro region.

First Significant Snowfall in Almost Three Years for New York City...Arctic Blast for Next Week...

Low pressure will track rapidly northeastward tonight and Sunday morning. The latest computer forecasts indicate that snow will spread into the NYC metro area Sunday afternoon, and the snow will continue to fall into the early morning hours on Monday.  The temperature will fall into the single digits throughout the region Monday and Tuesday morning with wind chills below zero.  There is a chance of some more light snow later this week on Wednesday and Friday.
