Heavy Rain Continues Today...More Showers Wednesday...

Radar continues to show a huge area of heavy rain lifting into New England. There is a large area of heavy rain now across the Hudson Valley as indicated by the large yellow-shaded area on the Doppler radar. Low pressure across the Mid-Atlantic states will track northeastward keeping the cool onshore flow around through early Wednesday. Look for showers on Wednesday but it will be nice and sunny on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Next chance of showers will be on Sunday.

Strong Winds in the NYC Metro Area Today...

The wind was very strong this afternoon in the NYC metro area with a gust of 55 measured at Newark, 40 mph in Central Park, 55 mph at Newburgh, 52 at JFK Airport and 51 mph in Bayonne.

Severe Flooding in Tennessee River Valley - Up to 18 inches of Rain

Severe flooding has occurred across the Tennessee River Valley with up to 18 inches of rain report in the last couple of days. There has been at least 11 deaths related to the flooding that has occurred in Mississippi and Tennessee. This storm system will give the NYC metro area thunderstorms tonight and Monday but they will not be as severe or produce as much rain.

Warmest April on Record in Central Park!

April 2010 was the warmest on record in Central Park since records began in 1869. The average monthly temperature was 57.9 degrees breaking the old record of 56.9 degrees set back in 1941. May is starting out very warm as well - the temperature is in the 80s to near 90 today across the New York metropolitan area!

Cold and Windy in NYC Tonight, Snow Tonight in New England!

The storm that dumped 2.29 inches of rain in Central Park the last few days has moved off the New England coast. This storm will dump up to 8 inches of snow in parts of interior northern New England tonight and early Wednesday. Lows tonight in the NYC will again drop into the 40s. But look for a big warm-up by the weekend with highs in the 80s.

Record High in Central Park...92 degrees, 34 degrees Above Normal!

Yesterday was a very warm day in the NYC metro area with a 92 degree temperature in Central Park which broke the old record of 89 set back in 1929. Today will be the 8th day in a row with above normal temperatures. Showers tonight and sunshine Friday afternoon and through the weekend with cooler temperatures.

Another coastal storm produced heavy rain and strong wind gusts today. More than 8 inches fell in parts of the area. Sunshine will be back for the rest of the week.
