Blocking Pattern to Produce a Mild Start to Spring in the Eastern US

The latest GFS indicates an early Spring for much of the eastern half of the nation. A ridge with high pressure is forecast to remain over the west Atlantic just off the coast of the Northeast for much of the next two weeks. This is expected to produce a mild southwest flow with only a few periods of rain and no major storms. Cool winds along the coast may at times produce chilly weather especially from the Mid-Atlantic States to New England.
