Hurricane Henri to Produce Heavy Rain and High Winds Over Long Island and New England Today...

Henri is presently located 80 miles south-southeast of Montauk at 5:00 a.m. The highest sustained winds are 75 mph and the storm is moving north at 18 mph. The storm is predicted to track slightly east of Montauk today. Heavy rain cancelled the NYC concert midway through Saturday evening. Heavy rain in a short period of time produced flooding in the city.  Rainfall reports Saturday evening included: Brooklyn 6.32", Prospect Park 5.24", Central Park 4.45", Midtown Manhattan 4.73" and Newark Airport 1.45".  The storm will produce wind gusts to 70 mph, heavy rain that will produce flash flooding.  A storm surge along the coast will produce coastal flooding.  The storm is forecast to linger over New England after landfall producing significant rainfall through early Tuesday.
