An area of low pressure moving through New England today produced approximately 2 inches of snow in the city and the surrounding suburbs. Higher amounts up to 4 inches were found north and west of the city. For the first time in years, there will be accumulating snow two days in a row from two different weather systems. Low pressure forming off the Southeast coast tonight will track rapidly northeast. Snow from this system will graze New Jersey, New York City and Long Island. Higher amounts can be expected closer to the coast but rain mixing in may hold down accumulations in some areas. Snow tomorrow is expected to total 2 to 4 inches. Clearing and frigid weather will follow Sunday and it will not get out of the 20s on MLK Day.
