Heavy Rain and High Winds Across the Northeast

Heavy rain and strong winds this morning in the Northeast. A huge amount of tropical moisture streaming from the south dumped over 10 inches of rain in parts of Pennsylvania. The wind gusted to over 50 mph in places and some trees were knocked down in parts of the area. In New York City the rain held off until the late evening and overnight. The upper-air flow kept the rain to the west of the city and the rainfall "trained" over western NJ, eastern PA and DE hence the highest rainfall totals there. The rain is still falling this morning and there is heavy rain in CT, Long Island and upstate NY with showers over NJ and eastern PA.
