Record Heat this Past Week in the West, Flooding Rain in the East...

A high amplitude pattern in the jetstream continues across the nation.  This type of jetstream pattern is unusual for this time of year.  The weather is very hot again in the West but not as hot as it was last weekend.  Meanwhile, It is very wet in the East. During this past heat wave in the West, the highest temperatures recorded that were also daily record highs included 129 degrees at Death Valley, CA, 117 in Las Vegas, NV and 118 in Yuma, AZ. More than 14" of rain was recorded through 2 AM this morning in Panama City Florida.
