More Hurricane Earl Graphics - 10:00 PM September 1, 2010

Hurricane Earl is a dangerous Category 4 storm with 135 mph winds at the present time. The storm is forecast to track about 150 to 200 miles to the south and east of NYC and New Jersey. It is forecast to track across Martha's Vineyard where it will dump heavy rain and produce strong winds. The worst of the NYC metro area will be experienced over eastern Long Island. A Tropical Storm Warning is issued for coastal New Jersey to Sandy Hook and a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Long Island. The GFS model brings more rain into the NYC and western Long Island area along with more wind impacts. The NAM is farther east with little if any rain expected from the hurricane. A cold front passing from the west may produce a few showers and end this current heat wave. With the exception of rough seas and rip currents, the weekend will be very nice with lots of sunshine through Labor Day!
