Tropical Storm Earl Pounding Cape Cod Tonight with Wind and Heavy Rain

At 2:00 a.m. Hurricane Earl has been downgraded to a tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph. The storm is located about 100 miles southeast of Nantucket and continues to move rapidly to the northeast. Heavy rain and wind gusts over 30 mph are now present in and around Cape Cod. The storm is forecast to continue its northeasterly movement into Nova Scotia Saturday afternoon. Our weather in the New York City metropolitan area looks great this weekend with lost of sunshine and temperatures in the 70s to near 80. The ocean will still be rough with rip currents on Saturday but it will calm down on Sunday and Labor Day.
