COLD Weather Trend for Eastern Half of Nation and NYC Metro Area Thru End of January...

The latest GFS computer model runs indicate VERY cold weather for the eastern half of the US for the next two weeks.  The coldest pattern setting up is a classic ridge over the eastern Pacific and trough in the eastern US that is forecast to develop after January 20, 2011.  There is the potential for at least three or storms of varying intensities for the Mid-Atlantic states and the Northeast.  I will comment more on this pattern in the next week.
