Cold Trend for the Northeast to Begin 2011...

The lastest mid-range models are indicating a cold begining to the new year with below normal temperatures across much of the Northeast and the upper Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states. There is the possibility of light snow ths Sunday and a more significant storm around the middle of next week. Although this is very far out, another storm is also indicated around January 17th. The GFS has been excellent so far this year for the general temperature trends and has also performed well in addition to the NAM in the short-term or 72 hour forecasts.
