Major Snowstorm in the Northeast was Forecast by the GFS Model 10 Days Ago...

It is interesting to note that the Americian GFS Model forecasted the impending storm that will produce blizzard conditions in the Northeast on Thursday and Friday as early as 10 days ago. The 240 hour GFS forecast was remarkably similar to the current weather pattern with strong Arctic high pressure over Canada and low pressure moving up the coast from the Southeast states. The overall 500-1000 mn thickness and 500 mb heights were also reasonably forecast especially over the United States and Canada.
