More Cold Air for the New Year Across the Nation...Snow Possible on Thursday for the Northeast

The year will end on a cold note in Times Square tonight with temperatures in the 20s and wind chills in the teens. There is a chance of flurries and snow showers this afternoon and early evening. Snow is forecast from West Virginia to Maine Wednesday night into Friday. The models differ on the track of the storm but it appears that there is the potential for 3 to 6 inches in the NYC metropolitan area with higher amounts across coastal New England. Another blast of Arctic air is present across the upper Midwest and this air will be moving into the Northeast tonight and tomorrow. The temperature in International Falls has dipped below zero seven times so far this month. The coldest air of the season will move into New York this week. There is a chance of snow, sleet and rain Sunday night and Monday in the Mid-Atlantic states and the New York City metro area. Have a great New Year in 2014.
