First Snowfall of the Season for New York City Metropolitan Area, More than 3 Inches Expected, Up to 8 Inches on Long Island and Coastal CT...

Not only will Saturday see the first accumulating snowfall for New York City, it will be the first time snow has fallen in the city since last winter. Radar shows a very long area of rain and snow extending off the coast into the Southeast. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Long Island and Southern New Jersey for up to 6 to 8 inches of snow. Between 3 and 6 inches is expected in and around New York City. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Atlanta tonight for accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Yesterday, it snowed for only the third time in over 100 years in Brownsville, Texas. It also snowed in Corpus Christi for the first time in 13 years and also in Houston. This season, it snowed in southern Texas before New York and Boston. The snow will end Saturday evening. Cold and dry weather expected on Sunday. There is a chance for snow showers on Tuesday as an unusual strong storm moves across the Great Lakes and New England. There is a chance for light snow next Friday in New York City. Colder than normal weather is expected over the next two weeks in the Northeast. A La Nina is now present in the Pacific.
