Snow has begun falling in New York City around midnight tonight. The snow has created a dusting on sidewalks and roadways. Low pressure will track northeastward from North Carolina to Cape Cod producing snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain from the Mid-Atlantic to New England. As much as 6 to 10 inches of snow and ice is expected in and around the city with up to 12 to 18 inches well north and west. The snow and ice will mix with and change to rain during the afternoon across most of the area except for the northern and western suburbs. As the storm moves into New England, wrap-around moisture and colder air will produce snow Friday night into early Friday morning. Skies will gradually clear Friday afternoon. It will be cold this weekend with a chance of snow showers Friday night and Saturday. Milder air will move into the Northern Plains and the Northeast late next week.
