A Blizzard Warning continues for Long Island for up to a foot of snow with locally higher amounts and wind gusts to 50 mph. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect elsewhere for all of NYC, NJ, southern CT and southeast NY. Low pressure (see map above) will drift northeast off the NC coast and it will intensify as it moves over the warmer ocean and is injected with strong upper-level energy. The NAM FOUS model output is putting out an incredible amount of precipitation with more than 2.83 inches for Philadelphia and 1.99 inches for La Guardia. The FOUS message from the NAM model is below. This indicates that two feet or more of snow can be expected in southern NJ, southeast PA and MD and Washington, DC.
