Midwest Storm Heading East...Snow Possible in New York on Monday...

A storm tracking into northern Texas today will produce more than a foot of snow in parts of eastern Colorado today.  The Denver International Airport is reporting heavy snow at 11 AM and 16 degrees. Up to 14" of snow is forecast for the Denver area before the snow ends later today.  The storm will then dive southeastward into Texas and then it will track along the Gulf Coast on Sunday.  The storm will strengthen during the day on Sunday.  The GFS keeps most of the precipitation south of New York City on Monday.  But the NAM produces over 1" of precipitation. The location and strength of the low as it redevelops off the coast of North Carolina will determine how much snow the New York City area will receive.  Right now it does not look like a major snowfall event.  The weather will remain fair and cold for the rest of the week after the storm moves away with high pressure nearly stationary over the eastern half of the country.  The NAO which has been running negative is forecast to became more strongly negative in the next 2 weeks keeping the weather colder than normal in the Northeast and the Upper Midwest.
