Widespread cold grips the nation tonight with temperatures below normal over a large portion of the country. Lows tonight will be near 0 in Chicago and near 34 in San Francisco. A short burst of snow will occur Tuesday morning into the early afternoon from northern Virginia to Connecticut with 2 to 4 inches forecast for the NYC metro area with up to 5 or 6 inches in northern Delaware to southern New Jersey. Following the snow, another Arctic air mass will move into the Northeast with highs only near freezing Wednesday through Friday in New York. There is another chance for a wintry mix of precipitation across the Mid-Atlantic States and the Northeast this Saturday.

INTO THE MID 40S TO LOWER 50S TODAY AND ARE RUNNING 2 TO 5 DEGREES
AHEAD OF YESTERDAY. TONIGHT WILL FEATURE ANOTHER ROUND OF COLD
CONDITIONS WITH CLEAR SKIES AND LIGHT WINDS IN MOST SPOTS. SOME
ADDITIONAL WARMING ALOFT WILL TRANSLATE INTO SLIGHT WARMING FOR
TOMORROW MORNING. FEEL THAT ENOUGH SPOTS WILL END UP HITTING
FREEZING INCLUDING SPOTS NEAR THE COAST TO PUT ALMOST ALL ZONES
INTO ANOTHER FREEZE WARNING. WILL KEEP SAN FRANCISCO OUT OF THE
FREEZE WARNING, ALTHOUGH COULD STILL SEE LOWER 30S IN A FEW
POCKETS SUCH AS AROUND GOLDEN GATE PARK.
