Active Snowy? Pattern for Mid-Atlantic and NYC Metro Area Over Next 7 Days...

The NAM and GFS continue to indicate a pattern change that features a cold flow of air across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states but the main difference from most of January is that the southern, moist branch of the jetstream will track farther to the north. The storm track continues to remain south but light snow if forecast to spread across NJ and NYC tonight and early on Wednesday with an inch or less expected. A stronger storm with the potential for a significant snow is forecast by the NAM and GFS models for Friday night into Saturday afternoon. This storm could produce as much as 6 inches or more in parts of the Mid-Atlantic States and NYC/Long Island. Then later in the period, the GFS continues the stormy pattern with a light snow event forecast for next Tuesday or 7 days out.

I will have more developments on this stormier pattern later this week.
