Major Snowstorm for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States - Winter Storm Warning in Effect






Snow is beginning to spread into the Ohio Valley and the precipitation will increase in areal coverage and intensity later today and tonight. Low pressure will form off the Delmarva coast tonight and it will slowly drift to the south and east of Long Island producing 6" of snow near the coast (if the precipitation changes to rain and/or sleet) with up to 12" to 18" across central and northeastern NJ, NYC and western Long Island. This storm will be stronger and heavier than the December 19, 2009 storm with with gusts to 50 to 60 mph and blizzard conditions during the morning and afternoon on Wednesday.
