Winter Weather Advisory for 2 to 5 inches of snow with up to 5 to 7 inches north and west of NYC through Tuesday afternoon. Low pressure over the Ohio will begin to spread clouds in our direction later today. A strong upper low pressure system will track towards the coast generating a secondary storm near coastal Virgina that will track northeast just to the south and east of NYC and LI. Since water temperatures are around 40 degrees, the inflow of milder air will likely result in a mix along eastern LI and southern NJ with a change to rain right near the coast and even across interior southern NJ. To the north in the Lower Hudson Valley, CT and northern NJ the precipitation will be all snow. About 1 to 3 inches can be expected in the city with lesser amounts over eastern LI and the Jersey Shore. Heaviest snow for 5 to 7 inches will be over Eastern PA, southern CT and the Lower Hudson Valley. After this storm moves away, the weather looks dry and seasonably cold for the rest of the week.
