Another Storm Next Monday or Tuesday?

Latest model guidance from the GFS model is indicating the potential for a similar storm pattern that we saw today, February 10, 2010. This again is a "Miller B" type snowstorm pattern for the Northeast. Presently it does not look as strong but a vigorous shortwave dives down from central Canada, it draws moisture from the Gulf and then rapid development occurs in the baroclinicity of the Atlantic Ocean near Cape Hatteras and then tracks northeastward south of LI near the "40/70 Benchmark" for a snow producer in the NYC metro region. The 850 low stays south of Long Island and the strongest dynamics at 500 mb is closer and tracks to the east of the city. This could be a 4" to 8" or 6" to 10" storm. Of course it is very early and many things could happen. However, the GFS and the other models were right on with today's storm. More on this storm later this week.
